Joy and Celebrating in Father’s House

So he answered and said to his father, ‘Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends. But as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your livelihood with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him.’ Luke 15:29-30

One son strays from his father’s protection, teachings, and provision. He wastes the money his father gave him. He lives a very sinful lifestyle. He repents of this way of living and returns home to the arms of his forgiving, loving father.
The father, so overwhelmed with joy, throws a celebration party.

The son has an older brother, a man who faithfully serves his father. He never asked for his inheritance. He never wasted his father’s money. He never spent time with harlots.
He is a good son.
He should be happy at the return of his brother but he is not!
He cannot let go of the past actions of his brother.
It seems so unfair to him that his father welcomed him back and gave him a celebration.

Personally, I’m always happy when someone returns back to God and back to church; especially those truly repentant of past actions and seeking a real change in their life.
I think it’s a cause for celebration.
Personally I also believe there is positively no room in the Father’s house for anger, jealousy, spite, hatred, finger-pointing, and blaming the Father for problems.
The Father wants joy and celebrating in His house!
