He still eats with sinners.

And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, “This Man receives sinners and eats with them.” Luke 15:2

I’m glad He does.
However this scripture has me thinking about sinners, of which I am one saved by grace.
Therefore, I feel qualified to talk about sin and sinners.

I feel like there are different kinds of sinners.
Everyone sins but some deny it. They feel as if they aren’t as bad as others. And it’s a true statement. They’ll give you the shirt off their back and help in any way they can. They don’t do any of the vices. But good ol’ boys (and girls) don’t make it into heaven.

Some justify sin as society or laws change making things acceptable. But you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear, as the old saying goes. Lawmakers cannot usurp God’s mind into making any sin acceptable. My opinion is abortion is murder despite the fact its legal. Parents can also raise children into thinking some things are acceptable. When children see their parents doing drugs, drinking, or cussing and beating on each other, the kids can believe this is normal.

There are mean sinners. These are people who just do things out of spite. They imagine bad things to do. Career criminals committing sin against anyone – murder, rape, stealing, and hurting. They fill up the newscast with the things they do. This is the type of person that makes you say, “Why would someone do such a thing?”

I feel that a majority of sinners just feel trapped and they don’t know how to escape. They’re stuck. Drugs and alcohol play a large part in their lives. They continue to support a habit out of a feeling of necessity to do so; but it’s not limited to a chemical dependency. Anyone can feel trapped by their lifestyle.

Regardless of any of these types, and there are more, everyone sins and is offered salvation through Jesus. He still eats with sinners.
