Break the Curse of Cain

Then Cain went out from the presence of the Lord and dwelt in the land of Nod on the east of Eden. Gen 4:16

I am in a series of sermons beginning at the beginning. It’s amazing how “going back to the drawing board” reveals things you missed the first dozen times.
For instance, I always thought God banished Cain but scripture does not support this. God said he would be a vagabond and fugitive but He does not send him away, as in the case of Adam and Eve’s banishment from the Garden.

Cain left of his own accord!
It was a great mistake.
He already lacked faith in offering sacrifice.
He killed his own brother and attempted to cover it up.
It’s not a question of Cain not believing in God – he does! He just does not want to serve God. He wants nothing to do with Him.
He passes this along to his children and grandchildren.
The next few generations get progressively worse with his great-great-great grandson marrying two wives and later killing a man with the claim that if Cain can get away with it then he could too!

Generational godlessness is evident, not only in the Biblical record, but in society today!
Parents do not rear children in the training and admonition of the Lord. (Eph 6:4)
There is hope for those parents and their children but someone must reach out to them in the love of Christ. Many of these parents are hard working making an honest living. But many others are drug addicts, alcoholics, and thieves.
Jesus died for them all and gave us the commission to share that news with them.
Let’s break the generational curse of Cain.
