Studying false teaching!

For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted — you may well put up with it! 2 Cor 11:4

I am teaching about a false teaching Wednesday at church. This heresy is growing as the perpetrators of lies preach it as gospel.
In my study I find that it only takes one person to make a convincing argument to turn minds and hearts away from God.

The Bible is full of those that heard God’s word but turned to a different word. Paul wrote a letter to the churches in Galatia on this premise.
I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. Gal 1:6-7

One of the greatest tools a minister has today is the Internet. To Google a subject and find resources laid at your fingertips is a great help. No longer is a large, exhaustive library of books needed. Those books are available online.
But other books and teachings also slip in from preachers, ministers, and teachers you never heard of with persuasive, convincing words meant to open your eyes to a hidden truth.
This trick is nothing new. Reading Genesis 3 reveals the same tactic against Eve to convince her that God had not told her and her husband the entire truth – that God was holding things from them.

Paul’s warning to the Corinthians is a reminder of the spread of false gospel that lures people away from God.
The Bible is God’s word. Ministers of His word interpret and comment on that Word. But that interpretation and comment must never contradict His word as a whole.

As Paul said, “But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.” Gal 1:8
