Now the son of an Israelite woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the children of Israel; and this Israelite woman’s son and a man of Israel fought each other in the camp. And the Israelite woman’s son blasphemed the name of the Lord and cursed; and so they brought him to Moses.
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Take outside the camp him who has cursed; then let all who heard him lay their hands on his head, and let all the congregation stone him. Lev 24:10-14 (partial)
It seems a harsh punishment to execute someone for such as this. It seems harsh because you hear so much cursing as an everyday part of life.
Who is the responsible for this man’s death?
Not the Lord God!
Some of the problem lies in the marriage of an Egyptian man and an Israelite woman. It is a mixed marriage of faith. The man worshipped many gods and the woman had only One.
Perhaps the cursing of Egyptian god’s was tolerated but the One True God does not tolerate the blasphemy of His name. The man may have heard his dad curse the gods of Egypt.
If only he had been taught to honor God.
The same is happening today. Parents are mixed in their belief and do not teach children to honor God. If they do, the school, government, and society do not reinforce it.
With as much blasphemy that is happening today, does God now tolerate this action?
He may not take action immediately, as He did in the days of old. But those that commit blasphemy will suffer condemnation on the Day of Judgment.
Deny blasphemy and accept Jesus as your Savior.
Teach your children to honor God with their mind, mouth, and actions!
