If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so: circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. Phil 3:4-6
Yesterday I looked at bragging.
As you read New Testament scripture it often appears Paul is bragging. He is! As a Jew and a Pharisee he had much to take pride about.
His accomplishments were numerous.
When he spoke in defense of himself, again it sounds as if he is bragging.
“I am indeed a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, taught according to the strictness of our fathers’ law, and was zealous toward God as you all are today. I persecuted this Way to the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women,” Acts 22:3-4
Paul finishes with the testimony of his salvation.
To the Philippians he wrapped up with, “But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ.” Phil 3:7
Paul’s example should become our lifestyle.
Honor and glorify God for what He is doing in your life.
