Pruning

John 15:2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

Do not despise when it seems things are against you, even though you are living for the Lord.
When you seem to be struggling think about today’s verse.

Pruning has got to hurt.
I pruned a pear tree that’s in the yard. I cut away limbs that are bent, stressed, and too low to the ground.
The limbs I cut die in the process and are thrown away.
The tree does not look pretty for quite a while.
Then spring arrives and leaves and blossoms appear.
Little pears begin to grow on limbs that are stronger and have more room to produce fruit.
The pruning becomes a distant memory to both the tree and me.

So allow God to prune you – to cut away those things out of your life that you don’t really need. Knowing this, you will produce more fruit for the Lord in the end.
