The Planet’s End

Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Rev 21:1

Theoretical Physicist Stephen Hawking believes Earth’s days are numbered.
Last Tuesday he said, “I don’t think we will survive another 1,000 years without escaping beyond our fragile planet.”
He warned that developments in technology will lead to global cataclysm. He listed “nuclear war, catastrophic global warming, and genetically engineered viruses” as looming threats to our survival.
Hawking says our only solution is to find another planet to inhabit — an idea that NASA has been working on since 2009.

I believe he is correct, although not for the same reasons.

In Revelation 20 Satan is chained and confined to the abyss for a thousand years. (Rev 20:1-3)
During this time Jesus reigns as Ruler of the earth. (Rev 20:4-6)
After the thousand years Satan is set loose and he goes out to deceive the nations, leading them in rebellion against God. (Rev 20:7-9)
God ends the rebellion. (Rev 20:9-10)
The judgment takes place. (Rev 20:11-15)
Then the heavens and the earth pass away and a new heaven and earth appear. (Rev 21:1-4)

So it appears that Hawking is more correct than he thinks but not for the reason he believes, although [nuclear] war, famine, and [genetically engineered] pestilence may be prevalent in the days before Christ’s return.

While Hawking suggest colonizing another planet, my suggestion to you is salvation in Jesus.

  1. two verses come to mind, “ye shall be as god’s” and “having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof” It’s up the the reader to discover what context they may have with your “daily thought”
