Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them. Acts 16:6-7
Allowing the Holy Spirit to guide you where you should go is also allowing the Holy Spirit to guide you where you should not go.
Such is the case on the second missionary journey of Paul.
The passage has often perplexed me. In my human logic, the Gospel is for everyone. If I operated by the same logic while harvesting fruit or vegetables, then I would pick each. Yet I know only to pick what is ripe.
In his vision of a man in Macedonia calling to him, Paul realized that Macedonia was ripe for the presentation of the Gospel and God was right in His direction.
God’s timing is always best. While He prevented Paul from going to Bithynia, Peter would later address the Christians living there. (1 Peter 1:1)
Today God will lead you, if you let Him. He will take you where you need to be and keep you from where you do not.
Prayer and sensitivity to His leading is essential!
