But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Acts 16:25
It’s a matter of the Holy Spirit and your attitude and discipline. That’s what I told the church last night.
How else do you explain beaten men, shackled and chained in a dark, smelly prison; and yet they are praying and singing hymns.
There are no complaints.
There are no gripes.
There are no hissy fits declaring how unfair they are treated.
There is only the attitude and discipline to praise God.
Life throws some hard curve balls at you. Things do not go well. Problems arise and disrupt the normal flow of things.
Your attitude and discipline in Jesus will determine the outcome.
Christian and Holocaust survivor Corrie Ten Boom said this, “If you look at the world, you’ll be distressed. If you look within, you’ll be depressed. If you look at God you’ll be at rest.”
If Paul and Silas had let the world get to them they would be distressed.
Trying to break free in their own strength would lead them to be depressed.
In God, they were at rest.
God also blessed by setting them free from the chains of the prison. They went on to set a man and his household free from the chains of sin.
Your attitude and discipline sets you free today and another person tomorrow.
