Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. Gen 2:1
At the end of the sixth day, God had finished everything – there was nothing left to do but rest, which He did on the seventh day.
Gen 2:2-3 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
The host of the heavens and the earth were complete.
This brings forth a question: did He create the angelic host in the same time period?
I think God’s response to Job answers the question: “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? …When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?” Job 38:4, 7
Clearly it is meant that the heavenly host rejoiced at the creation, the Sons of God and morning stars being the angelic host.
For me, I have no problem believing that the angelic host and mankind are the only beings in the universe.
It is written, What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor. Ps 8:4-5
It is certain that the Father has a particular love for His creation of man! That love is demonstrated in the sacrifice of Christ for the sins of His Own creation.
Although God finished His creation on day six, I know He’s still working on me!
