“I predict future happiness for Americans, if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.” ~Thomas Jefferson
Just a day after I blog about politics, the politicians open their mouths and said nothing worth hearing and certainly not worth repeating. Although the news media repeats and repeats and repeats again those words not worth repeating.
You know my take on everything. I’m looking for a candidate with some humility – someone that will humble himself/herself before God.
There is an example of what can happen when one does not appear before God in humility.
Now Herod had been very angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon; but they came to him with one accord, and having made Blastus the king’s personal aide their friend, they asked for peace, because their country was supplied with food by the king’s country.
So on a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat on his throne and gave an oration to them. And the people kept shouting, “The voice of a god and not of a man!” Then immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give glory to God. And he was eaten by worms and died. Acts 12:20-23
It sounds like a page out of today’s playbook with political anger, bribery, welfare, and a political speech.
For Herod it did not end well. Herod failed to give God credit where credit is due. He loved the praise of men that called him god-like. It cost him everything.
As I said yesterday, no candidate gets my wholehearted support.
The bright side to this is the following verse that was given after Herod’s death – But the word of God grew and multiplied. Acts 12:24
It is not about the president, a congressman, or even the city dog catcher – it is about God and the salvation He offers in good times and bad times.
Let His word grow and multiply.
