My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent. Prov 1:10
Today’s Morning Thought comes from Sea Grove Beach, Florida.
Yesterday morning Linda and I took a walk up the beach. Not too far from where we set up our pop-up, we saw something orange in the water.
Nearby was a man, sitting in a chair and reading a book. He told us it was a bait bag.
“A what?” I said.
It is a bait bag to entice fish to come to the shallow water next to shore. He told us the day before a small shark came up to it.
What is the purpose of attracting the fish? So he can put on his goggles and look at them in the water.
Again, this is very close to where people are swimming, including children.
Solomon told his son to beware of those that entice him to sin.
Not only that, but there are others that will entice sin to come near you and to take a bite out of you, just like the bait bag and the sharks.
Stay away from those that openly invite sin into their lives. I’m not saying that you cannot be friends with them, pray for them, or invite them to church – but you cannot be buddy-buddy with them.
The scripture says, Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? 2 Cor 6:14-16
That’s not a scripture just for married couples.
Enticing sin is enticing danger!
Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.” 1 Cor 15:33
