Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you that this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.”
Peter said to Him, “Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!”
And so said all the disciples. Matt 26:34-35
He had good intentions. He felt very strong in his faith and was sure he would not do this terrible thing of denying His Lord.
Peter did deny Jesus, just as He said.
The disciples scattered and hid.
Sometime later things changed and Peter is arrested along with John.
So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” Acts 4:18-20
There is no denying he’s not denying anymore.
What is the difference from the night of the arrest of Jesus to the day of the arrest of Peter?
There’s no denying that it’s the Holy Spirit in Peter’s life.
There is no fear when God fills you with His Spirit. There is only power and of love and of sound mind. (2 Tim 1:7)
There is no living for yourself but the life you live will be Christ living in you. (Gal 2:20)
There’s no denying the Holy Spirit lives in the believer. But the power of the Holy Spirit in your life is determined by how willing you are to let go and let God!
Jesus said , “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.” Mark 8:34-35
