You’re young and foolish, doing crazy things, and living for yourself. You don’t care what others think – it’s your life and you’ll live it as you want. So you take lots of photo’s and post them online to Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.
You grow up. You mature. You get married and look back over your social media accounts. You start deleting the photo’s because that’s not who you are anymore. You find them embarrassing and degrading.
The bad thing is you weren’t the only person taking photos of you. Someone else has that time you had your face in the toilet of a public restroom in a bar in Oklahoma. There you are practically lying on the filthy floor with your face in a place never made for your face.
Someone else has a photo of you passed out in the back seat of the Jeep.
And there’s another with you giving a sign of contempt with your hand with the gang at the beach.
But now you’re embarrassed by those photos. You wish they’d go away, never to be seen by anyone again – like they never existed.
Sin is like those photos. You don’t care about it. It’s your life and you’ll live it as you want.
Then you start caring.
You hear a message about sin. You hear about judgment before a just and holy God. You hear how death is the penalty for sin.
You believe you’ve committed far too many sins for God to ever forgive you.
Unlike your photos on social media, which never really go away, Jesus forgives and forgets.
He will take your sin and tell you, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.” Isa 1:18
David realized the power of God over sin and said, “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Ps 103:12
Now you may remember your sin and transgressions. From time to time one will pop up and try to condemn you.
But God has the final word in Jesus’ name – not you!
“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” Heb 8:12
Those sins are GONE FOREVER!
