Jesus is not a popular topic these days. There are many against preaching in His name and living in His power.
Christians are discouraged from reading Bibles, passing out tracts, or talking about their faith. They are viewed as narrow minded, bigoted, and hypocritical.
In the early days of the church, the apostles were also discouraged from preaching Jesus.
So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. Acts 4:18
The apostles would not stop. No threats, prison, or death could curtail their demonstration of faith.
And while the apostles share with this present generation the command to quit preaching Jesus, there is one difference – through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. Acts 5:12
The success of those apostles seems to be from some things we definitely need to be doing ourselves.
And when they had prayed Acts 4:31
They were all filled with the Holy Spirit Acts 4:31
They spoke the word of God with boldness. Acts 4:31
The multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul. Acts 4:32
Neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. Acts 4:32
And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Acts 4:33
And great grace was upon them all. Acts 4:33
The church today needs to return to the basics of apostolic Christianity. When we do we will see lives changed for eternity.
