I love to watch NCIS and a recent show had one of the agents impersonated by three others.
It seems that agent went on a date with a woman that stole his identity and hired some actors to play the role of him.
I’m not sure anyone has ever impersonated me or stole my identity. I hope not.
This is a time of increased risk of identity theft and impersonation.
So much business is electronically transacted that valuable information about yourself can be kept in hundreds or thousands of places.
Your Social Security number and drivers license are unique to you.
Armed with either, a thief could start you on a long, difficult journey of financial trouble.
Pretending to be you they open a line of credit in your name and make purchases.
Before you know it you owe thousands and thousands of dollars for things you never bought!
I noticed in the Bible a story on identity theft and impersonation when some men tried to do something in the Name of Jesus.
Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “We exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.” Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so.
And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?”
Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. Acts 19:13-17
Are you a real Christian or just impersonating one?
Do you operate in a way that others identify you as a Christian?
Don’t be one of those that say, “I’m a Christian” but don’t live up to the Name; having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 2 Tim 3:5
Get real with God!
