Spiritual Vanity

I was on Instagram this morning and looking at the featured photo’s. I noticed that nowhere is the vanity of people seen so greatly than on Instagram. Facebook can almost be as bad.
There are some people that are really attracted to themselves, with photo after photo of their favorite person – Myself!

This trend may be a manifestation of a deeper spiritual truth – people are vain about their god. So many are taking a spiritual snapshot of themselves and giving it to God as if to say, “This is what I look like. Remember me!”
They are not totally dependent on the faith through grace needed for salvation (Eph 2:8) but are more enamored with their own thoughts and ideas on how salvation should work.

It is written, Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. Ps 127:1
Mankind’s thoughts and ideas about salvation are useless unless the Lord has determined it.

I have met so many people that are depending on their own strength and wily ways to gain favor with God. One man told me that he and God will sit down, have a beer, and talk things over. He told me it would be okay. But even a horse is a vain hope for safety;
neither shall it deliver any by its great strength. Ps 33:17

Selfies, important job, outstanding position’s , and social standing will not gain anyone any favor with God. Only giving your life to Jesus can save you.
