Christian – part 12

And he said, “Brethren and fathers, listen: The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran, and said to him, ‘Get out of your country and from your relatives, and come to a land that I will show you.’ Acts 7:2-3

And with that beginning, Stephen continued with the history of the Hebrews – the history from God’s word. He captivated his audience sharing the truths from God’s word.
He ended with a message about Jesus.
The listeners couldn’t take any more and stoned him.

Over the past eleven Morning Thoughts I have shown the characteristics of a Christian from Acts 2 to 11, where the disciples were first called Christian in Antioch.
Those eleven points are:
1 We must all be together in belief
2 We must be filled with the Holy Spirit
3 We must testify about the scriptures
4 We must proclaim the only way is Jesus
5 We must give the plan of salvation
6 We must continue
7 We must pray
8 We do not compromise
9 We help others
10 We call out sin
11 We rejoice in all things

The final characteristic is we talk about the Bible, just as Stephen did.
Though it did not turn out well for those that killed him – they will be held accountable for this; I believe the message had an effect on one man that heard Stephen’s message and even approved of his death.
That man was Saul, who would begin persecuting the church until his own conversion on the road to Damascus.
Saul, or Paul, would talk about God’s word himself; sharing from the Old Testament the Good News of Jesus.
He would also be inspired to write the majority of what you know as the New Testament, which are books of new stories you can relate.

Read your Bible and tell its story.
