Christian – part 5

The next rule-of-thumb for being a Christian also comes from the Day of Pentecost.
After the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit and began proclaiming the Good News, Peter preached the sermon of Pentecost. There were many questions asked about this phenomenon.

The main question asked was from the ones hearing the sermon – , “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” Acts 2:37

The question is answered with the plan of salvation.

Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38

A Christian should always be ready to give the plan of salvation.

Salvation doesn’t come by repeating certain words but with a change of heart and attitude.
Peter said, “Repent!”
That is a 180 degree turn around from your current direction away from God.
Salvation involves a public profession of your faith. You cannot be a secret agent for God. You must be open about what has happened.
The greatest gift of the Holy Spirit is love. (1 Cor 13)

If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Rom 10:9-10
