Christian – part 4

So far we have discovered between the ascension of Christ and the naming of Christian’s at Antioch, that several things have happened.

On the Day of Pentecost the believers were together in one accord, filled with the Spirit, and testifying of the scriptures.
Now let’s take a look at the next thing that happened that had an influence on the naming of the disciples as Christian.

In the sermon of Pentecost, Peter declares that the events that happened are a result of the fulfillment of the prophet Joel.
He ties together the prophecies of the Old Testament to Jesus of Nazareth.
Then he goes a step further.

“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.” Acts 2:36

Peter does what all Christians should do – proclaim the deity of Jesus, that He is both Lord and Christ.
Make no mistake, a true Christian will not declare any other way to the Father but through Jesus.
A true Christian will not sway from the simple truth that Jesus Christ is Lord.
Moreover, the Christian will unashamedly and openly proclaim it!
