Christian – part 2

Christian is more than a name or term – it is a marked lifestyle that can be seen when you know what to look for.

Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Again one of the indicators of being a Christian is seen on the Day of Pentecost – filled with the Spirit.
This seems to permeate most of the New Testament and is not only a mark of Christianity but is a necessity in the life of the believer.
In fact, if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. Rom 8:9

That doesn’t mean each of us do the same things by the Spirit. For this reason God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.
Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? 1 Cor 12:28-31

It is the Spirit that gives the ability in the believer to do these things. Not only that, but the Spirit leads the believer to live contrary to the flesh and perform the will of the Father in every facet of his/her life.
This is seen in the believers life by the fruit of the Spirit.
The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. Gal 5:22-23

Likewise a person that does not have the Spirit of God will work against the Spirit in the works of the flesh, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Gal 5:19-21
It is shameful that so many that want to call themselves “Christian” are living according to the flesh.

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Gal 5:25
