Pride, Arrogance, & the White House

Margaret was the special guest speaker at church Wednesday night. It was a powerful sermon about Gideon.
God used this man, who thought he was too insignificant to do anything.
Truly it was an anointed message.

She touched on politics just a bit but what she said made so much sense. She said we don’t need someone in the White House that thinks they’re god, just the opposite of Gideon.
Although she did not mention who she was talking about, all of us knew!

A few weeks ago Donald Trump said he could shoot someone and not lose voters.
I find that a very arrogant statement about his own self-importance.

It is written the fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverse mouth I hate. Prov 8:13

It’s funny how a politician will appeal to Christian vote with some statement about their faith or a photo op at a church or with some religious leader.

Let me take some time to give you some warning signs of a double-minded person according to God’s word.

For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error. 2 Peter 2:18

But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. James 3:8-10

So on a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat on his throne and gave an oration to them. And the people kept shouting, “The voice of a god and not of a man!” Then immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give glory to God. And he was eaten by worms and died. Acts 12:21-23

The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God; God is in none of his thoughts. Ps 10:4

He who is of a proud heart stirs up strife, Prov 28:25

He is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself. 1 Tim 6:4-5

The first thing you should do it pray for each candidate to know Jesus as Savior – though some already profess this by words and by lifestyle.
Second, ask God to show you how to vote.
