Don’t be a Christian Agnostic

Today’s scripture is very important in today’s world. While in recently weeks it seems Paul had addressed the qualities needed in a church leader, I thought it a great way for all Christians to conduct themselves.

He sums up that thought in the next few verses.

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. Titus 2:11-14

Although God’s saving grace has appeared to all men, it is left up to the individual to accept in and live through it as indicated by the things listed – denying ungodliness, living soberly, righteously, and godly while waiting for His return.

I know many people that claim they believe in God or are a Christian but there is no sober, righteous, godly living. They don’t live towards the return of Christ – they could care less whether He comes back or not.
They are a type of Christian agnostics. They will give the appearance to live for Christ around other Christians but will not voluntarily mention Him openly to those living sinfully, seeing they are living the same way.

How can anyone be “His own special people” if they are not openly living for Christ? He does not need undercover operatives or secret agents for Christ!

Christianity is not very popular, even inside a country that was founded upon Christian principles.
If you celebrate His birth or resurrection, you are subject to someone or some group being offended.
Paul gave these final words,

Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you. Titus 2:15

Let no one despise you!
Stand up for Christ. Live for Him! Share His saving grace. It is by this others will see Jesus living in you and be drawn to Him.
