When I have any money, I get rid of it as quickly as possible, lest it find a way into my heart. JOHN WESLEY
God will not merely judge us on the basis of what we gave but also on the basis of what we did with what we kept for ourselves. ERWIN W. LUTZER
Money never made a man happy yet, nor will it. There is nothing in its nature to produce happiness. The more a man has, the more he wants. Instead of its filling a vacuum, it makes one. If it satisfies one want, it doubles and triples that want another way. BENJAMIN FRANKLIN
For a bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but hospitable, a lover of what is good, sober-minded, just, holy, self-controlled, holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who contradict. Titus 1:7-9
Not greedy for money!
Certainly there are some ministers that are making a good living out of the ministry. I cannot judge if they are greedy for money or not.
Many live a lavish lifestyle with a mansion, cars, and private jets; perhaps several homes in several parts of the country.
I cannot judge if they are greedy for money or not.
It would seem to me that they would be more humble and modest in how they live and operate. A ministry that brings in millions of dollars should spend a good portion of that on the expansion of the kingdom of God.
It takes money to live. Everything cost a dollar amount. Electricity and insurance are not free. Phones and air conditioning are not free.
But many a good preacher has had his head turned because of money. The ones that are the most prosperous are the ones that preach prosperity to all, even though all don’t have it.
Paul told Timothy,
The love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1 Tim 6:10
Many try to hold on to as much money as they can but you cannot take a single cent with you when you go.
Jesus was more impressed by a little old woman that gave a couple of cents to the church more than the many others that gave hundreds or thousands.
She gave all, while the rest gave a portion of their abundance.
If you are going be a good steward then you must remember that it is God’s money. Don’t love it more than you love Him.
