The Gospel – a peculiar message

A local business has put up a sign denouncing the recent Supreme Court decision with a reference to Leviticus 18:22.

The local news carried the story on-air and on social media. Comments on social media have been supportive and condemning.
The ones that condemn the most always seem to use scripture to back up their offense of others using scripture.

I conclude they have no real knowledge of what scripture is saying. Of course they would probably conclude the same about me.

The Gospel is a peculiar message. It is a message of love with an underlying message of judgment and condemnation.
It is a message of forgiveness by the grace of God and the destiny of those that pass it up.
The Gospel is a message of eternal life and eternal death.
The Gospel is the message to transform lives.
It is the message of God’s open arms and His great wrath.
It is a message of redemption and reward, as well as eternal rejection of those that have rejected that redemption.

The Gospel is a veil that lies over the face of mankind. There are those that back up enough to see the veil and get a glimpse of the other side of it.
There are those that don’t.

Many of those that have the veil lifted from their eyes get a keen sense of understanding of God’s word. Many others also have the veil lifted but never seriously pursue that Godly knowledge and understanding.

As the great Apostle said to the church of Corinth,

But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. 2 Cor 4:2-4

Satan is the god of this age and he is good – really good – at blinding the minds of those who do not believe with their whole heart. He blinds the minds of those that are willing to protect sin with their love of the sinner.

To the same church Paul also wrote,

For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works. 2 Cor 11:14-15

Although the Word sheds light on the sins of the world, it will also shed light on the sin the church has allowed in her doors; sins that woo and entice her.
The world will not take the message seriously until the message givers do!

Read the Bible!
Lift the veil.
Reveal the truth!
