The issues of the Church!

I asked a second question on Facebook, “what is the biggest issue facing the church today?”

The answers are not too much different from yesterday’s question.

Sin, truth, and fitting in with the world (as in too much of it). Too many churches are catering to a feel-good, me-me-me, now-now-now culture. The truth is becoming seriously diluted in the “you’re ok” message.
Religion rather than relationship.

Political correctness, irresponsible people, apathy, entitlement, and people need to step up and get busy for the kingdom! Too many people sit back and let everybody else do it! The same people always do everything and they get “tired” they miss the worship!

Unbelief, having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof, complacency, religion not relation, the spirit of religion, conformity, a lot of folks sitting at home, we could throw a rock and hit a house with people that haven’t walked through the door of a church, not putting God first, and churches teaching a watered down gospel, or a man made one, deception, and a straying leadership.

The nation has problems because the church has problems. I think a good portion of both can be attributed to apostasy – a falling away.

If I’m correct, then little can be done because Paul says before the return of Christ it must happen.

Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. 2 Thess 2:1-4

I don’t believe that “falling away” is a lack of people going to church. I believe it is a falling away from the pure teaching of God’s word. Certainly some of the most populous churches are those that preach a feel good message.

It is a church that is politically correct, complacent, having a form of godliness church. It is a church that will not stand against sin and false religion but will embrace and compromise sinful behavior.

Certainly the words of Jesus are ringing true –

“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’ — and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked Rev 3:15-17

If only the church would heed the counsel of the Savior, then a great revival would take place and though the failing of the nation is inevitable, the salvation of thousands or millions would be secured through the preaching of the word of God.

What does the Lord say?

I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. Rev 3:18-19

  1. we see it all the time in our post modern era, change the truth for a lie, bend a little bit here, a little bit there, and soon no one is responsible for anything any longer. We are called to be salt and light. Hopefully I can be such a witness for Christ.

  2. This is the great apostasy, although apostasy has been prevalent throughout the church throughout history. We can share the gospel, exhort those who are in error, and pray for God’s blessings and mercy upon our nation. God bless us.
