Segregation

I read an article this morning about the dollar bill. You may have seen in on Facebook too. What I found more interesting were the comments; one in particular.

“In God We Trust” and “one Nation Under God” were signed into law in the 1950’s. this country was built on freedom of religion, not one god.
The founding fathers were not all Christian. They actually believed that America would have been a much better country without religion. Religions condone and fuel segregation and war.

EDIT: A big thanks to all the Christians that contributed to my comment. You just verified the fact that religious beliefs fuel segregations and conflict.

Though I did not go through all 400 comments, I can only imagine what some Christians said, as well as non-Christians.

Does Christianity segregate? Yes. When man’s ideas of interpreting what God is saying then you will always have segregation. We will always interpret what the Bible says. Even I interpret what the Bible says.

The Hebrews had segregation and division among themselves. They were twelve tribes united under one God. And yet they segregated themselves from God by worshipping false gods and sinful behavior.
Later there would be a division between rabbinical thinking – again with how the scripture is interpreted.

You can see this division in the Bible when Paul is brought into judgment.

For Sadducees say that there is no resurrection — and no angel or spirit; but the Pharisees confess both. Acts 23:8

So let’s redirect the question and ask does God segregate?
Without a doubt!

All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Matt 25:32-33

Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: Matt 25:34

Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: Matt 25:41

And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. Rev 20:15

It would appear that it is not religion that separates and segregates – it is sin.

Jesus offers salvation to all who would call upon His name. It makes no difference if you are black or white, Hispanic or Chinese, hetero or homosexual, drug addict or alcoholic, male or female, old or young – God loves you and wants you to repent and turn away from your sins and accept Him into your life.

Without Him you will be segregated.
