The unfairness of God!

Sure God is unfair! He can be very harsh and downright mean. So many call Him “loving” but do His actions justify that description.

Case in point, a story from the Old Testament about a man that blasphemed and cursed God.

Now the son of an Israelite woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the children of Israel; and this Israelite woman’s son and a man of Israel fought each other in the camp. And the Israelite woman’s son blasphemed the name of the Lord and cursed; and so they brought him to Moses. (His mother’s name was Shelomith the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.) Then they put him in custody, that the mind of the Lord might be shown to them.
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Take outside the camp him who has cursed; then let all who heard him lay their hands on his head, and let all the congregation stone him.
“Then you shall speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘Whoever curses his God shall bear his sin. And whoever blasphemes the name of the Lord shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall certainly stone him, the stranger as well as him who is born in the land. When he blasphemes the name of the Lord, he shall be put to death. Lev 24:10-16

This would justify most everything said about God. If you say G. D. then you would be put to death – no if’s, and’s, or but’s.

Yes, God is unfair, harsh, downright mean and unloving.
He is so unfair, harsh, downright mean, and unloving that He gave His only Son to take away the penalty of saying G. D. or any other sin.

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Cor 5:21

What is unfair about that? What is harsh about One giving His life so that others can be reconciled to God? What is unloving about paying the penalty for the sin of every one, though not everyone will accept what has been done?

If you ask me, I think people are unfair in their assessment and treatment of God. I think people are unloving to look at Christ and choose a different path of salvation for themselves. I think people are harsh and mean to warp God’s creation claiming it evolved from something else.

God, unfair?
I think not!

  1. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Cor 5:21

That is one of my favorite verses. Thanks.
