We are a spoiled society. When the electricity is out people can stay pretty happy as long as their smart phone keeps working. Once that fails too, then they get nasty.
I’m writing this from work today.
The internet is down and people are not happy.
Let’s see – the electric is on! The radio stations are on the air! And my smart phone is working so I made it a “hotspot” so I could get on the computer! And I have donuts and coffee.
So what is the problem? No phones! The phones are all IP (internet protocol) based. Without internet there are no phones at this radio station! Listeners can listen but cannot call in with their jokes, response to questions, requests, or prayer needs.
We are a spoiled society when things aren’t working just exactly right.
Frankly, I relish the quiet since I’m the one that answers the phones in the morning!
The Bible is rather vague about heaven and eternity. I mean, you know they happen and each of us has an idea of what it’s like – many mansions, great white throne, and a huge city with pearls for gates.
It is also written,
The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. Rev 21:23
No sun and no moon. I bet there’s no electricity, phones, or internet there too!
No wonder we need to be…
changed — in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, 1 Cor 15:51-52
There’s no way such a spoiled person as myself can enter that holy place with internet on my mind!
Now the good news only gets better. There may not be the need for technology in heaven but there is no room for a lot of really bad stuff.
But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Rev 21:27
So despite what may not work for you today, be of good cheer and smile. It’s going to be a great day. Jesus is on the throne and soon He will get up and come for us!
