Bread and Water

There was a man of God sent to the king of Israel. The king wanted him to stay with him but the man of god said he could not.

“If you were to give me half your house, I would not go in with you;

nor would I eat bread nor drink water in this place. For so it was commanded me by the word of the Lord, saying, ‘You shall not eat bread, nor drink water, nor return by the same way you came.'”1 Kings 13:8-9

As he was traveling home and old prophet heard of his visit and pursued him and invited him to stay. Again the man of God repeated his command from God.

But the old prophet said to him,

“I too am a prophet as you are, and an angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord, saying, ‘Bring him back with you to your house, that he may eat bread and drink water.'” (He was lying to him.) 1 Kings 13:18

The man of God went home with the prophet and ate. It cost him his life because he disobeyed God.

You see, the man of God was instructed not to eat or drink in Bethel but he disobeyed.

Bread and water can represent the word of God. Jesus said,

I am the bread of life. John 6:48

And

“If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” John 4:10

Jesus is the Bread of Life and the Living Water.

But many false prophet and false christ’s will present themselves as that bread and water.

In the story I believe God warned the man of God against accepting the doctrine of the area – the bread and water. He was not to linger nor pollute his body with food and drink.

You should also be careful what you spiritually eat and drink. There are many ministries, religious teachers, and preachers that are saying, “Eat from me! Drink from me! I can feed and satisfy you!”
But their food and drink is poison.
Stay away from the fake nutrition of the devil and turn to the good nourishment of the Lord God.

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Ps 34:8
