Have you ever missed something on TV or the radio? Perhaps you missed the best ball game of all time because you were preoccupied.
Maybe a new restaurant offered free meals on opening night but you declined to go with the in-laws.
They ate for free and you missed out.
It’s common to miss out on something good because you didn’t go, weren’t interested, didn’t pay attention, or just ignored the opportunity.
I see people pass up a chance for salvation all the time. They ignore an opportunity for prayer and healing.
With God you don’t always get a second chance; especially if you disobey Him the first time.
This is the case with Jonah. God told him to go to Nineveh and deliver a message. Jonah ran the other way – you know the story.
Then it happened! Right after his amazing whale ride – a second chance.
Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time, saying, “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach to it the message that I tell you.” Jonah 3:1-2
Jonah went as quickly as he could. He preached as direct as possible.
Nineveh got a second chance to hear God’s message and repented.
Jonah got a second chance to give God’s message and witness the salvation of a city.
Don’t pass up a chance to hear the message God has given just for you.
And don’t pass up a chance to give the message God has given you to give someone else.
