Lifted Hands and Low Necklines

1 Tim 2:8-9 I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting; in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel

Men and women are dependent on each other.

Each depends on the other for love. Each depends on the other for procreation. Each depends on the other for the proper raising of children.

And each are dependent on the other in church.

If the men don’t engage in the worship of God at church then they will engage other things.

If the women dress immodestly, then the men are not going to pursue the worship of God because they are too busy looking at the women.

It is no mistake that these two are in the same verse. Men are to keep their eyes on God and lift up their hands and praise Him.

Women are to forget about their looks. God is not impressed with low necklines and high skirts. He is more concerned with the looks on the inside!

So men and women need to work together to ensure that the entire church has it’s attention where it belongs – ON GOD!!!

By the way, if you are a Christian I think this same principle should work outside the church too!

Abba, I pray that in my church, nothing distracts us from You! In Jesus’ name, YES&AMEN

  1. I can’t help but wonder if God helps His children more now to obey, or has it always been so hard? So distracting? Either way I ,again can’t help my self, but thank Him for His stead fast love.
