Mark 9:43 If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off.
Mark 9:45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off.
Mark 9:47 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out.
It would seem that most of us should be handless, footless, and eyeless! I don’t think Jesus meant this as literal as it sounds but His illustration does get the point across.
Your hands reach and grab.
Your feet carry you all kinds of places.
Your eyes gaze and stare at different things.
The message is to cut out of your life those things that your hands reach for that leads you to sin.
Likewise to cut out those places that leads you away from God.
And one of the hardest is controlling what your eyes see. What you see leads to covetousness. Coveting is the stepping stone to every other sin.
It’s time for a temptation operation. Amputate out of your life what may take you far from God. And if it leads you an inch away from Him, that’s too far!
Abba, trim from my life all that trails away from You! Lead me in the path of your righteousness, where I do not want to depart to the left or right; but to stay on the straight and narrow! In Jesus’ name, YES&AMEN
