Burning in our hearts

Luke 24:32 And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”

Does hearing the scripture read cause you to want to know more?

It’s funny how many times the pastor would say open your Bible to [this place] and let us begin reading at [this verse].
I would often find myself reading on, even after he stopped!

My mind would also begin to think about what I read and meditate on it.

Even today I can hear a sermon on the radio and it begins to spawn a sermon of its own within me.

The scripture is contagious to me – the more I hear, the more I want; and I want to share it with others!

There was a time when the Bible was read every day in the homes; the children would read it aloud as part of their education.
Now Satan has filled the home with other things to take our minds off the Word – TV, computers, iphones, ipod’s & ipad’s, Netflix, streaming video, and a satellite connection with 600 channels of nothing.

We really need to get back to the basics of Bible and let our hearts burn!

Abba, Your word is true. It encourages rather than entertains. Your word improves rather than impairs. It draws me into the reality rather than creating one for me. I love your word! In Jesus’ name, YES&AMEN
