Amos 8:11 “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord God, “That I will send a famine on the land, Not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, But of hearing the words of the Lord.”
Driving on the south side of Lufkin you will find no lack of eateries. There are no fewer than 20 different places in the stretch of a mile.
Close to the same mile are four churches.
I remember when we were starting up our church, someone told me, “aren’t there enough churches in the area?”
I responded with “if I was starting a liquor store (or a restaurant) no one would complain!”
If on any Sunday everyone everywhere decided to go to church there would not be enough room for everyone.
The same may be true for the restaurants if everyone decided to go out to eat. But people will stand in line for a table – not for a pew!
