Matt 17:22-23 After they gathered again in Galilee, Jesus told them, “The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of his enemies. He will be killed, but on the third day he will be raised from the dead.” And the disciples were filled with grief.
The last time Jesus spoke of His death and resurrection He was reprimanded by Peter.
Peter was told “Get behind me, Satan” by Jesus.
This time there is no reprimand. The disciples only grieve. They can only hear death. They cannot comprehend resurrection.
People that reject or reprimand inspiration cannot see the whole picture. Like the disciples they don’t see the end result.
What I see is Jesus is making progress with His disciples. They aren’t reprimanding and discouraging Him.
It will cost Him His life but He will continue to inspire them. He will die and He will rise the third day.
But as you keep on reading you’ll find those disciples praying, seeking God, obeying His commandments, and being filled with the Spirit.
Then it’s the disciples that are inspiring and encouraging.
It’s a lesson for all Christians to keep on; keep inspiring and encouraging others. The day may come when someone that is un-inspired today will be inspiring others tomorrow.
Abba Father, give me the strength and perseverance to continue pushing forward. Let me never be discouraged to the point of giving up or quitting.
In Jesus’ name, YES&AMEN
