I believe in demon possession. In some circles that would label me some kind of kook or fanatic.
Yep, it would!
It’s something that Jesus and the early church addressed.
There was an instance of a young man tormented by a demon. It wouldn’t let him talk and it often violently threw him to the ground where he had seizures or became rigid.
The disciples were asked by the young man’s dad to cast it out but they could not.
Jesus did. When asked about it by the disciples He replied, “This kind can be cast out only by prayer.” Mark 9:29 King James Version says prayer and fasting.
Possession is not to be taken lightly.
There is another incident in Acts 19 where seven men were attacked by a possessed individual. It wounded them rather severely.
This is not like some Hollywood movie – this is real. Spiritual warfare is real.
Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Eph 6:11-12
The armor of God must include prayer. Fasting will not hurt either.
Though the world will reject the thought of demonic possession and warfare, I live by the words of Jesus, “They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.” John 17:16
It is time for the church to move out of the physical and into the spiritual.
Get the mind of Christ!
But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means. Those who are spiritual can evaluate all things, but they themselves cannot be evaluated by others. For, “Who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ. 1 Cor 2:14-16
