What is truth? (part 1)

what_is_truth-LRGPilate said to Him, “What is truth?” John 18:38

It is the question that everyone wants answered.
You are living in a world that says one thing is the truth and then will change it to the opposite and declare the truth again.
What is truth?

For mankind it is progressive and slow. Truth must be learned and proven to be so. Mankind has determined what is truth and then changed the truth for a newer or more improved truth. Some is true, while some other is perceived.
For the human race it is often difficult to find the truth since there are so many that declare they have the truth.

For God, truth is constant and eternal. It does not change or bend. It does not need to be proven – it is truth.

God has given you His truth.

First of all Jesus said, “Your word is truth.” John 17:17
God’s word is true. It is constant and eternal. It does not change or bend.
I know that some would say the word of God has been translated, mistranslated, retranslated and is in error.
But then those that say this do not know the power of the Holy Spirit.
If you believe that all Scripture is given by inspiration of God (2 Tim 3:16) then you must believe that God has the power to inspire those that desire to perpetuate the Word.
What I am saying is if Moses, Isaiah, Luke, and Paul were inspired to write, then why can’t Tyndale, King James, or some of the more modern translations be just as inspired.
Do you believe God can maintain the integrity of His word?

I most certainly realize there are some bad translations that have changed the truth. These are easy to spot. As Paul said, “They exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.” Rom 1:25

So what is truth?
Let’s start with a simple declaration of Jesus – I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6
Despite the declaration and perceived truth of Oprah – that there are many ways to God  – Jesus, the creator, declares that He is the only way, the only truth, and the only life. There is no other way to God (the Father) except through Him. (view Oprah’s comment here)

Now is Jesus a liar, a lunatic, or is He LORD?

I’ll have more on truth next time. Until then, begin discovering the truth from God by reading His word (which is true) for yourself!
