Transformed by spending time!

transformedWhat you would be like if you could build the ultimate you.
What would you look like? What kind of house would you live in? What would you drive?
And if you could be given a super power, what would it be?

Despite not having everything you may have listed above, the truth is you should want to be the ultimate you.
You can be the ultimate you through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Rom 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

In order to have a transformed life you must have a renewed life.
To be renewed is to restore, replenish, revive, recondition.

The greatest example in the Bible of someone living a transformed life is Jesus. Compare how you spend your time to how He spent His.

Jesus said, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matt 6:33
A transformed life is someone who is doing this.

Jesus made spending time with Father a priority!
Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed. Mark 1:35
Getting away and spending time with God was a priority to Him.

He also spent time with His Disciples.
Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. Luke 11:1

As a pastor I know the importance of spending time with my church – the disciples.
I know teachers, elders, and pastors all took time with me when I was a young Christian. I was the disciple.

Jesus also spent a lot of time with the public and encouraged others to do the same.
After meeting a man that was possessed with a “legion” of demons, Jesus freed him from this stronghold.
And when He got into the boat, he who had been demon-possessed begged Him that he might be with Him. However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, “Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.” And he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis all that Jesus had done for him; and all marveled. Mark 5:18-20

This may seem like a strange story to look at when considering Jesus and the public but this guy is told to stay and tell others about Christ.
Too often Christians are all about their church and circle of Christian friends – the disciples. But just spending time in a Christian circle does not fulfill the Great Commission.

“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Matt 5:13-16

Your life will transform when you begin spending more time with Father, the disciples, and the public.

  1. I missed your thoughts last week. I am blessed you were blessed at camp! All that we gain from being surrounded with church family is a useful strength, & wisdom for when I’m out away from family. The Comforter reminds me in the right moment, and blessings flow. Sence my steps are ordered I know that I have divine appointments that I don’t reconize until after the fact. Praise God not only does He go with me, but I meet up with Him in others.

  2. Hey Tim, how come your blog has changed and won’t allow me to respond on the webpage?
