A Sword will Devour

bibleswordIf you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword Isa 1:20

Those words were spoken to Israel during the days of Isaiah. It was a warning to repent from the path the nation was taking. That path was leading to destruction.

Unfortunately, people did not listen and Israel was invaded and the population was either killed or taken captive and relocated to a foreign country.

Last night at church, I made the statement that our country is badly divided. To repeat the Pledge of Allegiance and say, “one nation under God, indivisible” is hypocrisy.
The United States is not “one nation” politically, judicially, or spiritually.

Though there is a remnant that cries for repentance and a turnaround for the nation – there are just as many that prefer to continue on the path of national self-destruction. When morality and virtue are ignored for the sake of economics and self-desire, then you have the beginning of a downfall.

It is written that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 2 Tim 3:1-5
That is a good list of the attitude and character of people today.

Though I have always thought that the “last days” referred to the end times, I believe it could also be a declaration to the end of a nation – it’s last days!

God gave us hope and the promise of returned blessings if His people will repent, return, and rejoin in worship and honor of Him.
When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chron 7:13-14

There is a sword of a different and personal type that will affect you! More about that next time.

  1. Wonderful message if we would only heed it as a nation! It’s hard to find a church with a preacher that preaches this anymore!

  2. Yes, I recently read “The Harbinger” and it gives warning to our Nation too.
verse 14 of 2nd Chronicles starts out with “If”
God still gives us free will.. Sometimes I wish He didn’t
We will see Jesus, either very soon or perhaps later. He will take us home or He will come back for us.
    Keep preaching the truth Bro.
