Always ready.

always readyYesterday I was off routine.

I was just getting up when I got the call that I was needed at the radio to fill in for the early shift.
I had to get up, get dressed, and leave.

That meant no time for Bible reading or a Morning Thought.
There was no time for coffee, no time for news., and, worse, there was no time for Linda.

Out the door, in the truck, and down the road I went. I’m not even sure the sleep was out of my eyes.

There was no backtracking or catching up. I had to just push forward and catch up with the day not try to turn around and grab what I had missed.

I arrived at work and continued from there. I was in sync the rest of the day so that everything was good by the time I arrived home.

This interruption in my routine was man-made, that is, I had to fill in for someone at work, which does happen from time to time.
There will be a day when God will upset the routine of every person on the planet.
Jesus said, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” Matt 24:29-31

Jesus goes on to say that this interruption in life-style will be similar to one other time that disrupted everyone’s plans.
As the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. Matt 24:37-39

There are things you cannot plan for, like an accident, damage from a hurricane or tornado, illness, or a call to fill in at work.
But you can plan for the return of the Lord.
Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. Matt 24:44

  1. There are many things that work to pull us away from our post of watching. We can get caught up for a few minutes to several days, even months. I don’t want to be there when Jesus comes, but I know if I am His love is sure. I am still His. He will not forsake me. With all my heart I believe His coming is nigh. He has the right people in place to bring about the fulfillment of prophecy. I pray more repentance to be granted. I am bolder (uninhibited) in telling people of the gift of Salvation. It is not by chance, nor accident that a person has crossed our path. Our steps are ordered by the Lord. Therefore that meeting is by divine appointment! We don’t know…that maybe the moment they need to hear of God’s love.

Those days when the unexpected happens, just saying a little prayer saying, “Help me Jesus to listen to YOUR will today as I meet it.” always helps it run smoothly.
