Your Pessimistic Enemy

Because you did not serve the LORD your God with joy and gladness of heart, for the abundance of everything, therefore you shall serve your enemies, Deut 28:47-48
It has been said, “What angers you, controls you!”
Anger is an enemy; as is fear, discouragement, hatred, bigotry, anxiety, and hopelessness.
There is much to be said for changing your state of mind; to think on the positive.
In the movie Pollyanna, a quote is attributed to Abraham Lincoln, saying “when you look for the bad in mankind, expecting to find it, you surely will.”
While honest Abe may never have said that, the meaning behind the saying is true.
Looking for the bad will consume you and you will serve it.
There are those that don’t get depressed about what they have; it’s what they don’t have.
It’s the “grass is greener” idea.
But life is not always better on the other side of the fence; it’s just relocated.
These types are pessimistic about everything; always dowsing hope and extinguishing ideas.
I believe you can quench their pessimism with a dose of Godly joy and gladness.
Look on the positive and reject the negative.
Don’t worry and concern over what may never happen or, as the Bible says, be anxious for nothing. Phil 4:6
That’s what most worry about; nothing!
So what can you do?
Turn it around; look for the positive in everything.
The entire verse says, be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Phil 4:6-7
It doesn’t end there!
God has more instruction on the matter; whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things. Phil 4:8
Meditate or think on these things!
Things that are true, honorable and right.
Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable.
Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
Don’t serve your enemies, serve the Lord Jesus with all hope, joy, and gladness.
It will change your life and those around you!
